Peter Sauer, 85, retired city water department employee, died Friday at St. Luke's Hospital. Services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Mr. Sauer was born March 27, 1884 at Saratove, Russia, and married Barbara Schroh there in the fall of 1905. Three years later they came to this country and joined Mrs. Sauer's parents in Aberdeen.

Mr. Sauer, employed by the water department for many years, retired in 1945. Mrs. Sauer died in 1963. Mr. Sauer suffered a stroke in 1966 and for the past 2 1/2 years has lived at the Americana Nursing Center.

He is survived by three sons, Val, Aberdeen; Pewter Jr., Whittier, Calif; and John, Aberdeen; and by five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter in infancy and two sons.

Friends may call at the Huebl Chapel from Sunday noon until 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. Rosary will be Monday evening in the Huebl Chapel at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be in the family lot in St. Mary's Cemetery.
