Mrs. Buchholz was born in Jackson County, WI November 14, 1921 a daughter of the late Melvin and Cora Smith Hanson.
During WWII she worked on the home front for the Defense Department producing ammunition for the troops overseas, and later served as a food inspector for the Douglas School System in Box Elder, SD.
Mrs. Buchholz worked for families in Chicago and Arizona as a homemaker and nanny. She spent countless hours as a volunteer for the Children's Miracle Network, and was a member of both the Cottageville Baptist Church and the Red Hat Society.
She is survived by her daughter Rhonda Leveille and husband Dan, of Ridgeville; her son Joe Buffington and wife Renee of Arnold, MD; sister, Inez Pettis of Augusta, WI and two grandchildren Teddie and Katie Buffington. There are three special people she loved and raised as her own children, Sam, Ben, and Abbie Jenson.
She was preceded in death by a daughter Roxanne Renee Buchholz and a brother Marvin Hanson.
Funeral services will be held December 21, 2011, at 2:00 in the Chapel of Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home. Committal services will be held later at the Mountainview Cemetery, Rapid City, South Dakota.
