Anthony J. Pellegrino, of Laredo, Texas, passed away Saturday afternoon, Dec. 17, 2011, in Grosse Ile, Mich., at the age of 84. He was born Oct. 10, 1927, in Plumville, Pa., to Louis and Margaret (Lorenzo) Pellegrino. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Louis Pellegrino; son, Anthony John Pellegrino II; daughter, Bonita (Pellegrino) Eagan; and brother, Jimmy Hair and wife, Georgia Ann (Gillette) Pellegrino. He was a former Army private first class from Feb. 19, 1946 to Dec. 9, 1946. He is survived by children, Janice Schmidt, of Minnesota, Dorice (John) Pelto, of Minnesota, Courtney Pellegrino, of Pennsylvania, Kenneth (Collene) Pellegrino, of Michigan, and Nicole Pellegrino-Guardado (Ric), of Texas; grandchildren, John (Greta) Elliot, Anissa Mouiselleaux, Hannah Schmidt, Peter Schmidt, Sarah Pelto, Michael Mann Pellegrino, Margaret Pellegrino, Anthony J. Pellegrino III, Dante M. Pellegrino, Nicolas R. Guardado and Alexandra A. Guardado; great-grandchildren, Lauren Elliot, Damian Foth and his friend, caregiver and nurse, Gretchen Erickson. He was founder of Transportation Service Inc. (TSI) and the chairman of the board. He was a pioneer and leader in the transportation industry and developed many currently used NAFTA transportation practices. His success in business allowed him to contribute to his favorite causes - Texas A&M International University, Oakwood Southshore Hospital and Mayo Clinic of Scottsdale, Ariz. His passions in life included trucking, golfing, boating and travel. Visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the JOHN F KRUPA FUNERAL HOME, 1000 Freeport Road, New Kensington, 724-337-7504. Prayers with transfer at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home, followed by Christian Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Peter's Church in New Kensington.
