HOSPERS, Iowa -- Beatrice Jungers, 88, of Hospers, Iowa, died Sunday, March 22, 2009, at Orange City (Iowa) Hospital following a brief illness.

Services will be 2 p.m. March 25 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Hospers, with the Rev. Paul Eisele officiating. Burial will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery in Hospers. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. today, with a parish rosary at 5 p.m. and a vigil prayer service at 7 p.m, at the church. Visitation will resume at noon Wednesday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Fisch Funeral Home and Monument of Remsen, Iowa.

Beatrice was born Nov. 14, 1920, in Ashton, Iowa, the daughter of Ben and Mildred (Frohwein) Klunenberg. She was raised and educated in the Ashton area. She graduated from eighth grade in 1934. She then worked as a waitress in Sheldon, Iowa, where she met Oscar Jungers. They were married Feb. 4, 1939. The couple made their home on a farm near Hospers. She entered Heritage House Nursing Home in Orange City in February.

She was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and Church Guild, and the Catholic Daughters of America.

She was also a longtime member of a card club and an avid card player.

Survivors include her husband Oscar of Orange City; a sister, Mildred and her husband Cal Roesch of Denver, Colo.; a daughter-in-law, Joann Jungers of Sioux Falls, S.D.; a grandson, Kenneth Smidt of Sioux Falls; three great-grandchildren, Catherine, Ben, and AJ Smidt, all of Sioux Falls; a sister-in-law, Ruth Klunenberg of Minneapolis; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Francis Jungers; and two brothers, Ronald Klunenberg and Edmund and his wife Gladys Klunenberg.

Casket bearers will be Steve Auchstetter; Jeff and Greg Klunenberg; and Ken, Ben, and AJ Smidt.
