On December 20, 2011, the world lost an amazing woman when Carolyn Marie "Honey" Drewry was called back to her heavenly home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Pueblo, Colorado on August 27, 1939 to Sam and Mary Salvo. She was raised on a farm along with her three brothers, Ugene, Sam and Bob.

Honey had many careers during her lifetime starting out as a Dairyette girl serving ice cream, working at a drive-in concession stand, a radio station, a bank, a school, modeling, a mobile home sales and trailer park owner, a landlord and a preschool owner.

Upon her arrival in Yuma, she started the first catering truck business servicing the produce community with her home made goodies for many years and running concessions for the City parks during softball games and other activities. She catered many private parties around town while working full time as a counselor/ speech pathologist at San Pasqual Unified School District. She retired form San Pasqual after 33 years. A lifelong believer in education, she obtained two Bachelor's degrees in 3 years, majoring in Psychology and Speech and hearing while raising her young children by herself. She was working toward her PhD at the time of her death.

She sponsored several YBBL baseball teams, collecting many City Championship plaques and trophies with Larry Munoz as her very capable coach.

Honey never met a stranger and if you needed a hand up, Honey was there. She opened her home and her wallet to anyone in need and gave anything she had graciously. Children were drawn to her for comforting and compassionate ways.

Honey is proudly survived be her son, and caregiver, Eddie Schnedler; daughter, Gina Carillo, (Michael Gibbs); grandson, Robby Carillo (Kristen Gildersleeve); best friend, Dolores Lopez, Lucy Almodova and Bernie Bedoya, Sarah Daniella, Uri, Ann Sheldon and many more, too numerous to mention as well as many generations of students she mentored at San Pasqual who considered her Mom and Grandma.

Honey was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, ex-husband, Ray Schnedler; long time companion, Les Arrowhead and infant son, Raymond.

Thank you to Dr. Neelappa, Dr. Minkus, Shanna, Sarah, Bobbie and all the folks on 2 west and 3rd floor that took such tremendous care of Mom.

Utmost appreciation to Hospice Compassus, especially to Frances, Sharon and Steve who were there for us when we needed them most.

A mass in her honor will be held at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church followed by a graveside service. A celebration of her life will be held at Desert Hills Golf Course Restaurant afterward.
