Following graduation from Laurel High School, Sheryl attended Eastern Montana College. When an opportunity to serve as a flight attendant for Northwest Airlines presented itself, Sheryl moved to Minneapolis.
It was in Minnesota that Sheryl married Ron Burdorf on July 3, 1970. They made their home in the St. Paul area with the exception of several years in Pasadena, Calif. Retiring in 2000, Ron and Sheryl moved to Billings.
Throughout 40-plus years of marriage, Sheryl was the love of Ron's life and his best friend. She was a truly warm and witty soul of fierce loyalty to family and friends. Though occupied with many interests, she had a great passion for all manner of needle work and quilting. She was an accomplished pianist and the piano was an integral part of her life.
Sheryl is survived by her mother, Dorothy (Schuhrke) Frank, sister Sidne (Mark) Walton; brothers-in-law Roger Burdorf, Jerome (Karen) Burdorf; sister-in-law Lorraine Smith; nieces Courtney (Jon) Henderson, Amanda Olsen, Jennifer Heiling and Jeanne (Dan) Moreno; nephews Brett Walton, Eric and Jonathan Smith, Eric Olsen and Tom Burdorf and many aunts, uncles and cousins who loved her dearly.
The family asks that any memorials be made to the Susan G. Komen For the Cure breast cancer foundation.
Memorial services will be Friday, Dec. 30, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Laurel. Cremation has taken place. Smith Funeral Chapel-Laurel assisted with arrangements.
