Obituary of Hans Johnson Who Died Here at Son's Home

Hans K. Johnson was born Aug. 22, 1851, in Gravdal, Norway, and passed away Feb. 22, 1944, at the age of 92 years and six months.

In the year 1881, he was united in marriage to Oelette Hartviksen and to that union was born 13 children. Five are living: John and Chris of Chotea; Mrs. W.M. Scott, Mrs. Nels C. Mathison and Mrs. H.E. Christiansen, all of Dutton.

With these five children they came to the United States in 1904 and settled in South Dakota. In 1915, they came to Montana and took up a homestead 12 miles northwest of Dutton and made their home there until 1936 when they moved to Dutton, where they lived until 1940 when his wife died. Mr. Johnston thereafter made his home most of the time with his children. He passed away at the home of his son, John, two miles south of Choteau. Mr. Johnson has sisters living in Norway but they have not been heard from since the end of the war.
