Prior to entering the military, Mr. Ziehm was employed at the Bell Aircraft company in Wheatfield, New York, and at the Linde Corporation in the Town of Tonawanda, New York. Later, Mr. Ziehm had served as a volunteer fireman at Gratwick Hose in North Tonawanda.
A Private First Class during World War II, Mr. Ziehm was later promoted to Sergeant.
