Erwin H. Bender, 37, of Howards Grove, passed away early this morning at Memorial hospital. He had been in ill health for the past several months.
Born Oct. 23, 1912, in the town of Meeme, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bender, he attended the Taylor school and was confirmed at St. Paul's Reformed church in the town of Mosel in 1927 by the Rev. Ernst Traeger.
On Sept. 15, 1937, he was married to Edna Brendel, and they made their home in Howards Grove where for the past three years he operated a restaurant.
Survivors are his wife; five children, Roger, 10; Judith Ann, 7; Jerald, 5; Kenneth, 3, and Erwin, Jr, four months; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bender, of Millersville; a sister, Mrs. Gilbert (Caroline) Brendel of the town of Meeme; two brothers, Walter of the town of Meeme and Arno of Fort Collins, Colo.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p. m. at the Trinity Lutheran church in the town of Herman' with the Rev. John Potratz officiating. Interment will be made in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the Walter H. Ahrens Funeral home in Howards Grove from 10 a. m. Thursday until Friday noon when the body will be removed to the church.
