August Christian Schrader, for seventy years of Madison township and one of the oldest residents of the community north of Bremen, died Wednesday afternoon from the infirmities of his more than ninety-six years.

Funeral services will be held at St Paul's Lutheran church In Bremen Saturday morning. Rev W T Vogel officiating. Burial will be in the Bremen cemetery.

Mr Schrader was born 1831 in Germany, and was ninty-six years, five months and seven days old. He came to America in l852 locating first at Cleveland. In 1858 he moved to Madison township, St Joseph county, Indiana, where he spent the rest of his years.

He was married in 1858 to Johanna Bentel, who died in 1875.

Seven children were born to them, six of whom survive: Eward Schrader, Bremen; Mrs Pauline Heffner, Wellfleet, Neb; Mrs Matilda Boener, Aurora, Ill; Mrs Rosa Schafer, South Bend: Gustaf Schrnder, South Bend; Charles Schrader, Bremen. There are twenty-three grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren, and other relatives.
