Northwest Blade, Eureka, SD, Apr. 27, 1965 —

Mrs. Jacob (Barbara) Joachim, 62, died at the Eureka Community Hospital Tuesday, April 27, following a month's illness. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 1, at the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Eureka. The rev. E.J. Berreth will officiate.

Mrs. Joachim was born September 6, 1902, to Jacob and Mary, nee Humann, Sayler at Ashley, N. Dak. Her parents lived on a farm northwest of Eureka. On the 14th of January 1926 in McPherson County, South Dakota, she married Philip Theurer. They had one son.

She married Jacob J. Joachim in 1926, a widower with two sons and a daughter. They made their home northeast of Eureka until 1954 when they moved to Eureka. Mr. Joachim died in 1955. She was a member of the Evangelical United Brethren Church and a member of the W.S.W.S.

Survivors include a son, Allen Joachim, Aberdeen; two step-sons, Ray Joachim, Mobridge and Arthur Joachim, Washburn, N. Dak.; a step-daughter, Mrs. George (Ella) Crouse, Minneapolis; 8 grandchildren; her mother, Mrs. Sam Martin, Eureka; six sisters, Mrs. Peter Stickelmeyer and Mrs. Jacob Stickelmeyer, Eureka; Mrs. Edward Heupel and Mrs. Frieda Heupel, Aberdeen; Mrs. Leonard Preszler, Tacoma, Wash.; and Mrs. Albert Delzer, Bismarck; two brothers, Ervin Sayler, Eureka; and Ruben Sayler, Yakima, Wash.


Casket bearers will be Julius Reiner, Fred Hochstatter, Ted Joachim, Henry Delzer, Alvin Bertsch and Fred Scherle. Straubs will be in charge of arrangements and burial will be made at the City Cemetery.
