Solomon William Strohm, proprietor of a scrap-iron and junk business at Avon Heights for thirty years, died suddenly at noon on Thursday. His wife, Sadie C. (Behney) Strohm, stated that he left home to come to Lebanon and was on his way to the Ben Franklin Highway to catch a bus to the city when he suddenly collapsed in the street near the Avon Heights Gas Station. Russell Felker, the proprietor, saw the man fall, and called the Good Samaritan Hospital. An ambulance was sent and the stricken man was placed in it. He was pronounced dead, however, when the ambulance reached the hospital. Dr. W. W. Brubaker, the county coroner released the body after ascribing death to a heart attack. Strohm was 70 years of age. He was widely known because of his business. He was a member of Salem Evangelical United Brethren Church. In addition to his wife he leaves the following children: William I. and Mary, both at home; Marjorie, Lebanon; George W., Rockwood; James, Cleona; Solomon, Wernersville; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Jennie Daub, of Murray; and nineteen grandchildren.
