William Elshoff, age 85 years died Friday at his home in New Knoxville after an extended illness with infirmities of age. He was a retired farmer, having farmed for a number of years southeast of New Knoxville. Mr. Elshoff was an elder the the Evangelical and Reformed church for years and a few years ago when his health no longer permitted him to serve actively he was made elder emeritus. He was a lifelong member of the church and a member of the German Bible Class. He was born Dec. 16, 1863 in Ladbergen, Germany, a son of the late WIlliam and Elizabeth Katterheinrich Elshoff. On April 7, 1882, he married Sarah Settlage, who preceded him in death Jan 10, 1926. On April 4, 1930, he married Mrs. Louise Kuck, who is left to mourn the passing. There are five children surviving. Benjamin and Lewis Elshoff, Botkins R1, Mrs. Albert (Hilda) Schultz, St. Marys RR1, Rev. August Elshoff, Tillamook, Ore., and Mrs. LeRoy (Matilda) Kuhlman, New Knoxville. Two children, a son and daughter are deceased. He is survived to by these stepchildren; Mrs. Roy (Lucinda) Link Wapakoneta, Verne Eversman, Wapakoneta, RR2, Edward Eversman, New Bremen, RR1, Leonard Eversman, Toledo, Amos Eversman, Akron, Mrs. Orley (Alvina) Henkener, New Knoxville, eleven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, a brother, Herman Elshoff, St. Marys RR1 and two sisters, Mrs. Fredericka Steinecker, Botkins RR1,Mrs. Anna Kattterhenry, New Knoxville, and a great many friends are also left to mourn his death. Mr. Elshoff was widely known in the community and well liked....burial in Pilger Ruhe cemetery.
