Funeral service for Hamil Eugene Lawrence, 74, will be Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Donnie Carroll and Rev. Walter Blackman officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Burial will be in Mount Tabor Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 17, 2012 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Lawrence died Sunday, January 15, 2012 at Decatur General Hospital. He was born January 2, 1938, in Morgan County to John Brasher Lawrence and Eula V. Couey Lawrence. Mr. Lawrence was married to his loving wife, Louise Carroll Lawrence, for 52 years. He was retired from Monsanto after 38 years of service and was a member of East Highland Baptist Church. He loved to fish and was a father figure to many. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Louise Lawrence of Hartselle; two sons, Bobby Lawrence, Sr. (Linda) of Danville and Charles Lawrence (Joyce), Hartselle; one sister, Patsy Townson (Olivar) of Hartselle; five grandchildren, Elizabeth Kimbrough (Seth), Bobby Lawrence, Jr., Jakob Lawrence, Bailey Lawrence and Brasher Lawrence; honorary children, Jeff and Mike Williams; and a host of others.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to East Highland Building Fund.
