Barbara Disch Streiff, age 103, died Sunday, September 27, 1992, at the Oregon Nursing Home. She was born on September 26, 1889, in Montlcello, WI, to Leonard and Marcia (Rhyner) Altmann. Barbara married Henry L. Disch on February 26, 1906, in Montlcello. They moved to Verona and farmed until Henry died on June 14, 1943. On April 12, 1951, she married Fred Streiff and resided in New Glarus, where they owned and operated the Swiss Motel & Restaurant and the Chevy Garage. Fred preceded her in death on October 8, 1957. She was 82 years old when she decided to retire. Her favorite eating place was McDonalds and an occasional lobster tall. Her favorite TV show was WWF Championship Wrestling. When asked what attributed to her long life, she would reply, "Hard work, a nip of wine each evening and dancing."

Survivors include sons, Fred "Frick" (Bernlce) Disch of Madison, Gilbert (Rose) Disch of Montlcello, and Clarence (Betty) Disch of Oregon; daughter, Louise Zuber of New Glarus; 18 grandchildren;" 50 great-grandchildren; 23 great-great-grandchildren; and a great-great-great-grandchlld.

She was preceded In death by son, Herman; brother, John Altmann; special friend, Paul Lechmen; daughters-in-law, Lilly and Marybell; son-in-law, John Zuber; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Burial will be at Verona Cemetery.
