Mrs. Ursula Blevins Proffit, age 91, of Parkwood Place, Johnson Ridge Road, Elkin, widow of Oliver McNeil Proffit died Tuesday, June 27, 2000 at Hugh Chatham Nursing Home. Funeral services for family and friends will be held Thursday, 2:00 at the First Baptist Church in Elkin with Dr. Bill Johnson and Rev. Wade Tucker officiating. Burial will be in Mountain Park Cemetery in Wilkesboro. Mrs. Proffit was born in Wilkes County, June 26, 1909 to O. F. and Sarah Gambill Blevins. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Elkin. Mrs. Proffit is survivied by two sons. Gene Proffit and wife, Danna of Charlotte; Dan Proffit and wife, Dayetta of Fearrington Village; 4 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren. The family will receive at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home in North Wilkesboro from 6:30 until 8:30 Wednesday night.
