Funeral services will be Saturday, April 21, at Frick Funeral Home in Durant. Burial will be in Durant Cemetery, Durant, Iowa.
Johannes Ohlsen was born November 10, 1879, in Gammendorf, Fehmarn, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, the son of Hans and Emma (Berglund) Ohlsen. He came to the United States with his family to Davenport in 1882 and settled on a farm in Scott County. He married Anna Hass on March 31, 1909, in Davenport. Together they farmed in Muscatine County, until they retired and moved to Durant.
Surviving are his wife, Anna; one daughter, Alice (Samuel) Thulin of Cheyenne, WY; two grandchildren; one sister, Mae Schmidt; and two brothers, Jacob (Louisa) Ohlsen of Luverne, MN, and Albert (Susanna) Ohlsen of Davenport.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-father, George Boenke, one brother, Christian Ohlsen and one sister, Dorothea Ohlsen.
