Johannes Martin Spiegel (Spegal) was the son of Johannes Martin Spiegel Sr and Sarah Nan Jarret. Johannes siblings were, Catherine Spiegel Fifer, Samuel, Philip, Michael, Daniel Jacob, Jonathan Davalt and a brother that died in infancy.
He married Ann Mary Lentz, daughter of John Henry Lentz and Sevilla Helsey on August 11, 1805 in Lincoln County, North Carolina. They came to North Alabama about 1814-1815. They were divorced in July of 1822 in Morgan County, Alabama Circuit Court and Mary Lentz then married Johannes' brother Daniel Jacob Spiegel.
Johannes and Ann Mary Lentz had four children, John Michael Speegle, Savannah Sevilla Speegle, Henry Speegle and Chistena R. Speegle Fitts Baker. Ann Mary and her children remained in North Alabama.
Johannes Martin had continued to Kentucky around 1820 and appears on the 1820 Census, of Harrison County, Kentucky in the township of Marysville. He later resided with or near his siblings Catherine Spiegel Fifer and Samuel Spiegel. He last appears on the 1860 Census of Nicholas County, Kentucky in the household of his niece Katherine Fifer Hill.
