Joan Jordan Oelgoetz, born in 1932, died on September 9, 2011 after a brief illness.
Joan was born in Columbus, Ohio and graduated from St. Joseph Academy. She was employed by the Pontifical College Josephinum for 32 years, receiving the Saint Joseph Award for Outstanding Service. Joan also managed the concession stand for the Thomas Worthington High School for many years. During her retired years, Joan volunteered by bringing communion to St. Christopher Church and Our Lady of Victory church members who were unable to attend Mass. Joan was a devout Catholic and had a deep unwavering faith. She also loved her family and her Ohio State Buckeyes. Joan was preceded in death by her former husband, Joseph, son, David, brother-in-law Roland Eichner and her parents Harold and Mary Katherine Bright. She is survived by her two sisters and brother, Mary Anne Eichner, Penny (Tom) Merkle, and David (Cindy) Bright. Children: Mary Ann Meltzer (Ivan), Joseph (Karen) Oelgoetz, Timothy Oelgoetz. Grand Children: Brandon, Jordan, Elizabeth, Carol, Eric, Austin, Emily, Keegan, Kalee, and Zachary. Great Grandchildren: Brady, Dawson, Riley, Macy, and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the University of Michigan Cancer Center. Family will receive friends Tuesday from 6-8 PM at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Road. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 AM at Our Lady of Victory Church, 1559 Roxbury Rd., Columbus, OH with interment to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
