Passed away Saturday, October 26, 1985, at the Standish Hospital following an accident near AuGres. Age 51 years. Mary E. Hemgesberg was born February 4, 1934 in Maple Grove Township, the daughter of Leo and Carmelita (Gross) Hemgesberg. She lived in the New Lothrop area most of her life. She was married to Elzer Bitterman on August 8, 1953 in Maple Grove. He survives her. She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Maple Grove and its Altar Society. She had worked as a cook at the New Lothrop School for six years and at the Greenery Restaurant in Montrose the past two years. Surviving besides her husband are two daughters and their husbands, Deborah and David Downing of Mt. Morris, Sue and Steve Zervan of Montrose; two sons and their wives, Brian and Debbie Bitterman, Dennis and Theresa Bitterman, all of Oklahoma; three sisters, Mrs. Hayward (Betty) Bruff of New Lothrop, Mrs. Robert (Patricia) Patterson of Corunna, Mrs. Dale (Sally) Gross of Houghton Lake; six brothers,Laverne Hemgesberg of Owosso, Alvin and Michael Hemgesberg both of Chesaning, William and Daniel Hemgesberg both of New Lothrop, James Hemgesberg of Florida; six grandchildren; her mother, Mrs. Eldon (Carmelita) Brewer, of New Lothrop; mother-in-law, Mrs. Margaret Bitterman, of New Lothrop. She was preceded in death by a son, Keith Bitterman in 1977. Funeral services were held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at St. Michael Catholic Church, Maple Grove. Rev. Robert Navarre officiated with burial in St. Michael Cemetery, Maple Grove.
