Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Cross Catholic Church, with burial in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Luxemburg. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. today at Reiff Funeral Home, Dyersville, where there will be a wake service at 4 p.m.
She was born on June 25, 1901, in Luxemburg, daughter of John and Mary (Fredmann) Pottebaum.
She married Ervin J. Henkels on Jan. 21, 1930, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Luxemburg. They farmed together in the Luxemburg area until their retirement in 1977. Mr. Henkels died March 31, 1992.
She received her education in the Luxemburg-area schools. She was a member of the Holy Cross Catholic Church and its Altar and Rosary Society.
Surviving are two daughters, Eldora (Francis) Ploessl, of Holy Cross, and Anna Marie (Joseph) Wille, of Garnavillo; three sons, Ray Henkels, of Holy Cross, Joe (Jeanette) Henkels, of Dubuque, and Ervin (Mary) Henkels, of Cedar Rapids; 14 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren; a brother, Arnold (Kate) Pottebaum, of Dyersville; a brother-in-law, John (Verna Mae) Henkels, of Garnavillo; and five sisters-in-law, Theresa Henkels and Catherine Erdmann, both of Asbury, Florence Henkels, of McGregor, Frances McLane, of Guttenberg, and Bernice Williams, of Garnavillo.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Emmet Henkels, on Feb. 3, 1956; two brothers and five sisters.
A Clara T. Henkels Memorial Fund has been established.
