DYERSVILLE, Iowa - Cletus P. Vaske, 83, of Dyersville, died Thursday, April 4, 2002, at Oak Crest Manor, Dyersville.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, with the Rev. Jerry Blake officiating. Burial will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Luxemburg. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville, where there will be a parish scripture service at 4:30 p.m.
He was born on Jan. 8, 1919, in Luxemburg, the son of Frank and Catherine (Maiers) Vaske.
He married Alma Anne Koelker on Sept. 18, 1945, in Petersburg. Together they farmed one-mile south of Luxemburg, until they moved to Dyersville in 1981.
Surviving are his wife, Alma; a son, Wayne (Connie) Vaske, of Luxemburg; three daughters, Karon (Gary) Steger, of Buffalo Gap, S.D., Sharon (Carl) Jaeger, of Edgewood, Nancy (Wayne) Clemen, of New Vienna; two daughters-in-law, Dorothy (George) Gray, of Cuba City, Wis., and Pat (Dick) Rotzoll, of Luxemburg; 15 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Paul (Helen) Vaske, of Greeley, and Wilfred "Butch" (Anna Mae) Vaske, of Dyersville.
He was preceded in death by four sons, Gary, on Feb. 12, 1960, Bob, on June 18, 1990, Ron, on Sept, 4, 1994, Dale, on Oct. 13, 2000; three brothers, Leander and two in infancy; and three sisters, Marie Wulfekuhle, Florence Hermsen and Virginia Berns.
