Sylvia J. Gehm, 86, Shawano, passed away Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012, at a local nursing home, just one week after the death of her husband, William Gehm. Born on April 13, 1925, in Caroline, she was the daughter of the late Emil and Dora (Nuske) Dallmann. She was united in marriage to William Gehm on Oct. 12, 1946. Sylvia worked as a bookkeeper for Montgomery Ward's Department Store and Dairafo Company in Shawano and was a member of the St. James Lutheran Church. In her free time she enjoyed canning, sewing and spending time with the members of her sewing club. She also enjoyed quilting and graciously quilted blankets for her children and grandchildren.

Sylvia is survived by her two sons, Nick (Kathy), Green Bay; Joel (special friend, Kelly), Shawano; two grandchildren, Shawn (Caryn) Gehm, Green Bay; Mandy (Marty) Froelich, Green Bay; and five great-grandchildren.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; her parents; a granddaughter, Jolene; two sisters, Vivian Kriewaldt, Margie Edwards; and one brother, Eugene Dallmann.

The family is honoring Sylvia's wishes to have only a private family service. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Shawano.
