Former Jasper and Clark County farm advisor Russell Evans Apple, 81, died at Richland Memorial Hospital, Olney.

Retired after 34 years as Jasper advisor and nine years at Clark, Mr. Apple was a graduate of the University of Illinois. He had taught in both Robinson and Martinsville schools and was a member of the Newton Rotary, the board of directors of the Wabash Valley Association, Jasper County Farm Bureau, Jasper County Country Club, Martinsville Masonic Lodge, Danville Consistory and the Olney Shrine.

He was born in Robinson.

Mr. Apple is survived by his wife, the former Rose Green; a son, Phillip of Newton; a daughter, Mrs. Van (Nancy) Munsey of Grayville; sisters, Mrs. William Walker, Hutsonville, Mrs. Paul Crawford, Grass Valley, Calif., Mrs. Gus Jones and Mrs. Virgil Kirk, both of Robinson; and five grandchildren.

Services will be at the Buchanan Funeral Home. Burial will be at West Lawn Cemetery, Newton.
