JENNY COOKSEY CYRUS, 93, of Huntington, W.Va., went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, April 29, 2007. A celebration of her life will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 2, 2007, at the Kenova United Methodist Church, of which she was a member, with Rev. Lindsay Thorp officiating. Entombment will follow in Ridgelawn Memorial Park, Huntington. Jenny was born December 4, 1913, in Zelda, Ky., to the late Benjamin H. and Mayme Kees Cooksey. She taught school for many years and retired from the Wayne County Board of Education. She was a graduate of Marshall University, where she was a member of the Alpha Sigma Alpha Sorority. Jenny was also a member of the Alpha Delta Kappa Honorary Sorority for Women Educators. She was a member of the Maple Wood Garden Club. In addition to her parents, Jenny was preceded in death by her husband, John Malcum Cyrus. She is survived by her beloved son and daughter-in-law, Benjamin B. and Julia Cyrus of Jacksonville, Fla.; a grandson, Benjamin B. Cyrus Jr. of Jacksonville, Fla.; three granddaughters and their husbands, Taube Marie Cyrus and Hansen Alexander of New York City, N.Y., Alicia Erin and Larry Fellure Jr. of Apopka, Fla., Cinzia and B. Clinton Keller Jr. of Jacksonville, Fla.; great-granddaughter Emma Grace Fellure; great-niece Heather Auck of New Washington, Ohio; nephews Benjamin H. Cooksey III of South Lake, Texas, Dr. Stephen H. Cooksey of Pittsburg, Pa., Cyrus Edward Pinson of Roanoke, Va., and Robert Cyrus of Raleigh, N.C.; and three sisters-in-law, Martha Rogers Cooksey of Verona, Pa., Helen Cyrus of Raleigh, N.C., and Mary Grace Cyrus of Huntington. Friends may call on Tuesday, May 1, 2007, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Rollins Funeral Home, Kenova, W.Va. Mrs. Cyrus will be taken to the church one hour before the service on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Kenova United Methodist Church located at 503 15th Street, Kenova, WV 25530.
