RICHARD H. ARBIB, 77, INDUSTRIAL DESIGNER: - February 25, 1995

Richard H. Arbib, 77, of 500 E. 77th St., Manhattan, N.Y., died Wednesday in his home.

A 1939 graduate of the Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, N.Y., he founded his own design firm in New York City and had clients such as Hamilton Watch and Swank Jewelry. During World War II he was a designer with Republic Aircraft, working on the first guided missiles and expendable fuel tanks for fighter planes. Arbib began his career working for General Motors at the New York World's Fair and later in their design department in Detroit.

Some of the designs he is noted for are Argus Cameras, General Tire Narrow Profile Whitewall, the Ventura Watch by Hamilton and the Packard Pan American automobile.

Born in Gloversville, N.Y., he was a son of the late Robert and Edna J. (Henry) Arbib. Survivors: Daughter, Jeanne Garcia of Bethlehem; son, Dick of Bethlehem; brother, John A. in Florida; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services: 11 a.m. Monday, John F. Herron Funeral Home, 458 Center St., Bethlehem. No calling hours.
