Ronald Alexander "Alex" Foell, 29, passed away Friday, February 10, 2012 at Taylor House in Des Moines, IA. Alex's peaceful passage, surrounded by his loving family, ended his four and a half year courageous battle with cancer. A visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Ankeny Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, February 15, 2012, at Prairie Ridge Church (825 NW 36th St. Ankeny, IA). Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery in Sheffield, IA at 1:30 p.m.

Alex was born December 22, 1982 in Jefferson City, MO, the son of Ron and Marianne Foell. In 1987 his family moved to Sheffield, IA. He graduated with the class of 2001 at SC/MT High School and then attended Central College in Pella, IA.

Before his senior year at Central, Alex was a summer intern at the 1900's farm at Living History Farms in Urbandale, IA. He loved working with the horses and telling the story of early farm life. Upon his graduation, he worked there full-time until he started teaching American History at North Polk Schools in Alleman, IA in January 2007. Alex had a passion for teaching and made History fun for his students.

Alex will be sadly missed by his parents; sister, Marissa (Tad) Lincoln, Ankeny; niece, Harper Alexis and his nephew/niece due in August; grandparents, Dick and Nancy Bruckman, Ankeny; aunts and uncles, Doris Foell, Ames; Gwen (Jerry) Farnham, Webster City; Bob (Delores) Foell, Gerber, CA; Jan (Richard) Noss, Rockwell, IA; Donna Johanns, Inver Grove Heights, MN; Val (Curt) Daily, Anamosa, IA and Matt (Michelle) Bruckman, North Liberty, IA; eighteen cousins and his many, many friends. Preceding him in death are his great-grandparents; grandparents, Clem and Doris Foell; uncles, Dale Foell, Jim Foell and aunt, Beverly Foell.
