Mr. Kuse was born on March 8, 1927, in Auburndale, the son of Richard and Louise (Buhrow) Kuse.
He attended Sunshine School in rural Auburndale and later received his general education degree from Stratford High School in 1979.
He was veteran of the United States Army stationed in Hawaii and the Philappines.
He married Gloria A. Maurer on October 7, 1950, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Town of Day. She died on December 13, 2002.
The Kuse's farmed in the Town of Cleveland and Dan was also a mason/bricklayer.
He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, telling stories about his life and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandson.
He is survived by three daughters, LaVonne (Rocky) Lawrence of Neillsville, Doreen Kuse of Edgar, and Donna Kuse of Madison. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Billi Jo (Steve) Tollers, Jr., Jody Lawrence and Jason Lawrence; one great grandson, Carter Daniel Tollers; and step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. He is further survived by brothers and sisters, Mabel Leick of Stratford, Cora Carolfi of Stratford, Harry Kuse of Marshfield, Alice Hanson of Hewitt, and Marvin Kuse of Moline, IL; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; his wife; and brothers and sisters, Gladys Schneider, Richard Kuse, Jr., Elizabeth Wiersig and Harold Kuse.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 4, 2011, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Spencer. Private family committal will take place in St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery, Town of Day, Marathon County, where military rites will be conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post #6352.
