Rites For Former Resident

Max Cebulla, 89, former Havre resident, died in a Great Falls hospital, Aug. 6. Funeral services will be Wed. Aug. 9, at 2:05 p.m., in St. Jude's Catholic church.

Cebulla was born in Neiderdorf, Germany, Sept. 26, 1883, and came to the United States with his parents as a small boy. He came to Havre at the age of 17 and went to work for the Great Northern Railroad, where he worked for 49 years until his retirement as an engineer in the early 50's.

In Havre, Aug. 2, 1909, Cebulla married the former Sophia Kurtz. She died in 1949. For the past eight years Cebulla had been living with a daughter, Mrs. Lawrence (Genevieve) Kolar of Great Falls.

He was a past president of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. He was a member of St. Jude's Catholic church and the Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include daughters, Mrs. Kolar, Mrs. E.L. (Aquina) VanDevanter, Laguna Hills, Calif., Mrs. Benton (Eva) McGinnis of Great Falls, Mrs. Anne Jose, of Miami, Calif., Mrs. Reagan (Rita) Knight, San Diego, Calif., Mrs. Kenneth (Bernadette) Rickert, Lewistown; a son, Max V., Cut Bank; 13 grandchildren and 28 grandchildren; a brother and two sisters.
