Mrs. Max V. Cebulla Dies Today
Mrs. Max Cebulla, 61, highly regarded Havre resident for many years, died at her home on 505 Fifth street, this morning. Mrs. Cebulla had been in failing health for some months, but her death today came as a grave shock to her family and friends. She was planning to attend mass at St. Jude's this morning.
Mrs. Cebulla, the former Sophia Veronica Kurtz, was born at Delano, Minn., on May 4, 1888. She came to Havre in 1904 from Browerville, Minn., and was married here on Aug. 2, 1909, to Max Victor Cebulla. The Cebullas were married by the late Rev. Frederick Eberschweiler, pioneer Catholic missionary priest in this area.
Mrs. Cebulla devoted her life to raising her family and to the activities of her church. She was particularly active in the Altar Society, and she will be sadly missed by the members of that group.
Besides her husband, she is survived by six daughters, Mrs. Aquina Barnhill, Seattle; Mrs. Eva McGinnis, Muroc, Calif.; Mrs. Genevieve Kolar, Bremerton, Wash.; Mrs. Modesta Jose, Miami, Fla.; Mrs. Rita Knight, Honolulu; and Miss Bernadette Cebulla, a student nurse in Columbus Hospital in Great Falls. An only son, Max Cebulla, Jr., lives at Shelby.
Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Marie Thomas of Seattle and Mrs. Kate Koval of Bowerville, Minn.; three brothers, John Kurtz of Billings, William Kurtz of Wolf Point, and Peter Kurtz of Flaxville. Nine grandchildren survive.
