He was retired from Dairymen Inc., an Army veteran of World War II, a member of Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church, a life member of Millcreek VFW Post 5421, and an avid sports fan.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Nancy Jo Langford Carta; his parents, Joseph and Marie Carta; a daughter, Phyllis Brown; and a sister, Helen Abby.
He is survived by his children, Diane Dennison (Jamie), Anthony H. "Tony" Carta Jr. (Debbie), Gary Carta (Beth), Charles Carta (Sherri) and Terri Bramer (Denny); a sister, Bettye Mattingly; brothers, Jay Carta and Gene Carta (Delores); 20 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at Our Mother of Sorrows Church, 760 Eastern Parkway with entombment in Evergreen Mausoleum. Visitation will be noon - 8 p. m. Wednesday at Embry-Bosse Funeral Home 2723 Preston Highway.
