On July 5, 1911, Ida was united in marriage with George J. Ruff, son of Andrew and Sophia (Krug) Ruff, who had brought their family from the village of Dietel in the Russian Ukraine, in the 1890's. Her husband George died in 1974 in Russell.
Ida and Geo. built a home at 1108 N. Maple St. in Russell, where they lived for many years. She was a member of Trinity Methodist Church, and Hope Circle. She loved to play the piano and organ, especially with George on the Dulcimer.
She kept many notes through the years and completed a manuscript a few years ago titled "My Pioneer Christian Heritage by a Daughter". With the addition of the Epitaph, it will be published in the near future.
After 1974, she spent the winter months with her daughter in CA. After a heart attack in 1984, she stayed in CA in or near her daughter's home. She died quietly in her sleep at the home where she had been the past year.
She was preceded in death, many years ago, by her sister Elizabeth Deckert, and her brother, George G. Ginther. Survivors include a son, Eugene Ruff and his wife Margaret of Fairway, KS and their two children: Rev. David Ruff and wife Maryanne and their 2 daughters and 1 son of Overland Park, KS; and Marcy Askew and husband Larry and their 2 daughters of Merriam, KS.; and a daughter, Willemetta Ida Pangburn and her husband Clifton of Corona del Mar, CA and their four children: Paula and husband Dr. Ward Roman and their sons of Glastonbury, CT; Robert Pangburn and wife Jan and their son and daughter of Centerville, OH; Dr. Michael Pangburn and wife Kerry and their 2 sons of Tyler, TX; Susan K.
