Peter is the son of Ivan Kanait Metchikoff (1859-1932) and Marina Gerasimivna Klubnikin (1861-1932). He is one of seven known children: Mikhail, Alexsei, Peter, Vasili, Mary, Anna, and Eyon.

He married twice.

His married his first wife, Tanya Pavlovna Scheetinin (?-1931) before 1907. They have eleven known children: Infant female, Nura, Vanya, Paul, Mike, Michael, Sussana, John, Pete, Mary, infant son who died with his mother.

His second wife is Susie as shown on death certificate.
