Johann Bernard and his wife and 3 children left Bremen, Germany on the ship Adler with his brother and his family and arrived in Philadelphia on 9/5/1832. They settled on a farm northeast of Minster, Ohio. After his first wife died, he married Catherine Ortman. Johann Bernard died before St. Augustine Cemetery was being occupied so he may have been buried in the old cemetery at the corner of Fifth and Main Streets in Minster.
