Dallas – Eldon Neufeld, a life long resident of Dallas, peacefully passed away on February 22, 2012. He was born in Dallas, OR to Frank and Agnes (Friesen) Neufeld on July 31, 1927. On February 7, 1947 he was married to Frieda Heinrichs, in Dallas. To this marriage was born one son, Rodney Dean. Eldon and Frieda recently celebrated 65 years of Christian marriage.

The career path for Eldon started on the farm in Dallas working the fields and orchards. From there he transformed that experience to Tracy Canning Company. From Tracy he went to work for Portco Corp. in Vancouver, WA, launching his true love for sales. Eldon helped pioneer the Lumber Wrap Industry in the Pacific Northwest. That knowledge and experience carried him through 43 years in the Lumber Wrap Industry. He worked for Fortifiber for about 20 years until Fabrene Corporation purchased the Lumber Wrap Division and Eldon worked for Fabrene for about 13 more years until retiring in 2006.

Eldon was very involved in the community and served as Board member & President of the Dallas Downtown Development Association, as Treasurer of the Dallas Chamber of Commerce, as Treasurer of Dallas Smileroo committee, as Foundation board Founder and member of the Valley Community Hospital (Now West Valley Hospital), as board member of State Downtown Development Association, as committee member of the Dallas Downtown Renaissance, and as President of Bridlewood Homeowners Association. He was named as Dallas First Citizen, in 2008.

Beyond his community and civic involvement, Eldon was a man of faith in Jesus Christ, and enjoyed serving in various ministries which included, church usher, choir director, and committee member. Music was a very big part of Eldon's life. His voice and musical talents were a blessing to others.

Eldon is survived by his wife of 65 years, Frieda Neufeld, of Dallas, and their son Rod Neufeld and wife Jackie of Portland, OR. He is also survived by his granddaughters in Salem, Kristin Neufeld and Amy (Neufeld) Leigh and her husband Zach, as well as a great granddaughter, Peyton Abigail Leigh. Eldon also has 2 step grandsons, Brian Piper and his wife Trish of Kirkland, WA and Josh Piper and his wife Shyla and 2 step great granddaughters, Ariah Piper and Ilanya Piper of Portland. Eldon's sister, Evelyn Flaming and husband Wayne of Vancouver, WA and brother Clifford Neufeld and his wife Shirley from Olympia, WA, are also surviving.

Visitation is planned for Saturday & Sunday from 2-6 PM at the Dallas Mortuary Tribute Center. The Celebration of Life service will be on Monday, February 27th at 11:00AM at the Evangelical Bible Church. Private burial will be at the Dallas Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Diabetes Association, the Alzheimer's Association, or the Dallas Retirement Foundation, in care of the Dallas Mortuary Tribute Center, who is handling the arrangements.
