Professional Gymnast, Professional Discus Thrower, Olympic Gold Medalist. He was born as Fausto Alesio Padovini in Rome, Italy, on May 23, 1896, (some sources say May 23, 1897). His parents sadly passed away during an epidemic and he was then adopted by the famous Swedish impressionist painter Johan Axel Gustaf 'J.A.G.' Acke (1859-1924), and his wife the Finnish painter Eva Maria Topelius Acke (1855-1929), (daughter of the Finnish-Swedish author Zacharias 'Zachris' Topelius, 1818-1898), who were friends of the family. He then became known as Fausto Alesio Acke and he grew up in Vaxholm, Sweden, and was educated at a boarding school in Lundsberg, Sweden. He became interested in sports at a young age and he went onto become a professional discus thrower who participated in track and field events where his personal best was 41.97 while placing 13 on June 13, 1918, in Stockholm, Sweden, and his personal best was 40.50 while placing 16 on July 28, 1918, in Stockholm, Sweden. He was also a professional gymnast who was a member of the club Stockholms GF (or Stockholms Gymnastikförening), of Täby, Sweden. He would eventually go onto represent his home country of Sweden at the 1920 Summer Olympics that were held in Antwerpen, Belgium. Together with his team members including Albert Andersson, Arvid Andersson, Helge Bäckander, Bengt Bengtsson, Fabian Biörck, Erik Charpentier, Sture Ericsson, Konrad Granström, Helge Gustafsson, Åke Häger, Ture Hedman, Sven Johnson, Sven-Olof Jonsson, Karl Lindahl, Edmund Lindmark, Bengt Morberg, Frans Persson, Klas Särner, Curt Sjöberg, Gunnar Söderlindh, John Sörenson, Alf Svensén, and Gösta Törner, he was part of the Swedish men's gymnastics team which won an Olympic Gold Medal in the Team All-Around Competition Swedish System Gymnastics Men's Event. His final team standing score result was ranking 1 with 1.363.833 points. He continued to represent club Stockholms GF (or Stockholms Gymnastikförening), of Täby, Sweden, and be active in sports events. He at one time was the personal trainer of the Italian Fascist Dictator Benito Mussolini. A graduate of the Royal Institute of Sweden in Stockholm, Sweden, he later moved to Hollywood, California, where he became involved in the film industry at RKO Studios including being a personal trainer for the Hollywood elite including the actress Betty Grable. He was also a Captain of the Urban Military Academy boarding and day school for boys aged six to fifteen in Hollywood, California, where he was in charge of the corrective work involving health. During his career, he was awarded some 250 prizes in over twelve different sporting events. He was married to the Swedish sculptor and illustrator Gerdis Sung Acke (1902-1969), and to Anna Eida Indrefjord Acke (1906-1975), and he had at least one child, a daughter named Marta. He passed away in Hollywood, California, on May 14, 1967, at the age of 69, and just a couple of weeks before his 70th birthday. His funeral was held through Pierce Brothers Mortuary of Hollywood, California, and he was buried at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Hollywood Hills, Los Angeles, California, where several other famous California personalities including musicians, politicians, and entertainers, are also laid to rest.
