Mrs. Lucy Diehl Rife Obituary - Polo, Ogle, Illinois

Mrs. Lucy (Diehl) Pyfer Rife was born near Forreston, September 3, 1849, and passed away at her home in this city [Polo] at 6:30 p. m. Tuesday, evening, July 25, an illness of eleven weeks.

She spent her entire life in Ogle County.

She was united in marriage to George Pyfer on January 5, 1868. He passed away on February 2, 1896. To this union were born seven children, two of whom, Aaron Pyfer and Mrs. Emma Neff, preceded her in death.

She is survived by the other children, Alfred and Ellas Pyfer, Mrs. Ida Stuff of Polo, Chas. Pyfer and Mrs. Leathie Bovey of Dixon. Twelve grandchildren and ten greatgrandchildren also survive.

She was united in marriage to George Rife on October 23, 1904. He passed away twelve years ago. Besides her immediate family she is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Emma Huffman, Mrs. Lydia Fager of Forreston, and one brother, Abraham Diehl of Belllngton, Washington.

Mrs. Rife was a member of the Methodist church and the W. R. C.

She was a woman of very remarkable Christian character, greatly beloved by all who knew her. She was a great worker in the church. She was very fond of her home, her children and her flowers.

Coming to Polo nine years ago from Forreston she has made her home here. Preceding her coming to Polo she resided for 23 years in Forreston and before that she lived on a farm near there. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at the late residence and at 2:30 p.m. from the Methodist church in Polo. Interment will be in Fairmount cemetery.
