Psychologist. Born in Vienna, he was a professor conducting research and lectured at several psychoanalytic institutes in Europe before coming to the United States in 1938. He was naturalized in 1944 and founded the National Psychological Association for Psychoanalysis in 1948. Among his many writings are "From Thirty Years with Freud" (1940), "Myth and Guilt" (1957), "Of Love and Lust" (1957), "The Temptation" (1961) and "The Many Faces of Sex" (1966). He died in New York City.
