MANHATTAN - Fritz Gustave Knorr, 65, Manhattan, died late Saturday night at Savannah, Mo., where he had just arrived for a visit with relatives. He had a heart attack.

He had been head wrestling coach at Kansas State University since 1953 and had been on the faculty 30 years. He had been assistant athletic director at the university since 1948 and was business manager of the athletic department from 1948 until 1969.

He was born May 9, 1907 at St. Josephs, Mo., and spent his early life at Savannah, Mo. where he was graduated from high school in 1927. He attended Kansas State University where he received a BS degree in 1932 and an MS degree in 1945. He attended the University of Southern California in 1938 and 1939. He joined the faculty at Kansas State University in 1942.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church at Manhattan. He was a charter member of the College Athletic Business Manager's Assn., a charter member of the Kansas State University chapter of Phi Epsilon Kappa, honorary physical education fraternity and formerly was an adult sponsor of Sigma Phi Epsilon.

His wife, Mrs. Allene Frances Knorr died Nov. 21, 1971. Survivors include 2 sons, Fred Knorr and William Knorr, both of Manhattan; a daughter, Mrs. Elaine Conrad, Berkeley Heights, NJ; 2 brothers, Arnold Knorr and Oscar Knorr, both of Savannah, Mo.; and 3 grandchildren.

Services will be Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church at Manhattan with burial in Sunrise Cemetery at Manhattan. Cowan-Edwards-Yorgensen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
