Howard L. Mueller, 81, of Millstadt, Ill., born April 1, 1930, in East St. Louis, Ill., passed away July 30, 2011, at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, Ill.

Howard graduated from Belleville Township High School. He was a retired farmer and he had also worked for Eckert's Orchards. He was a member of Illinois Soybean Association, past board member of the Millstadt Consolidated School, past president of St. Clair County Farm Bureau, IAA Board for 16 years, Illinois Corn Board, Farm Credit Board, Land Bank, Golden Age, Stookey Ball League, Southside Fast Pitch, and Farm Bureau League. He was a United States Army veteran who had attained the rank of Private 1st Class.

Howard was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Frieda Mueller; his brother, Milton Mueller; mother and father-in-law, Thelma and Clifford Cates; his grandson, Jeremy H. Mueller; and his sister-in-law, Frances Mueller.

Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Wanda, nee Cates, Mueller; his sons, Larry A. (Karen K.) Mueller and Robert J. (Karen G.) Mueller, his grandchildren, Jessica (Tim) Grant and Jason (Jaime Tschudin) Mueller; his great-grandchildren, Reine N. Grant and Braden Grant. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
