JOHN KIRSCHNER LAID TO REST THURSDAY, AUG 14.
John Kirschner, was born to Mr. and Mrs. John Kirschner, Sr. February 9, 1864, at Blue Earth and died August 11, 1952, at his home in Wells.
Mr. Kirschner was reared at Blue Earth and on November 25, 1890, he was married to Mathilda Gaines, and in 1891 they moved to Wells. Four children were born to this union. In Wells he was in the furniture business with his brother, George, in the earlier years, then for a long period he operated a harness shop until recent years.
He served on the Electric Light Commission Board for many years. He also was a member of the Masonic Order and Woodmen Lodge. He served as secretary of the Woodmen Lodge for many years and also as a director of the Peoples State Bank.
Mr. Kirschner is the last of a large family, seven brothers and sisters preceding him in death. Those surviving him are his wife, with whom he had shared sixty-two years of married life, two daughters, Alma of Wells and Mrs. C. R. (Mamie) Jensen of Rochester; two sons, Frank of Wells and George of St. Cloud; and four grandchildren.
He was brought up in the Evangelical U B Church form early youth, beginning Sunday School and church membership in Blue Earth, then coming to the Wells church and remaining faithful until his death.
Funeral services were held Thursday, August 14, at 3 pm with the Rev. A B Utzman in charge. Mrs. Fred Hockenhull and Mrs. Orville Miller sang two beautiful hymns, "The Old Rugged Cross" and "In The Garden", with Mrs. Alfred Pankow officiating at the organ.
Pall bearers were Glenn Uggen, Martin Kalton, Ed Brown, Gus Elllig, W. E. White and Andrew Jensen.
Interment was in the Riverside Cemetery at Blue Earth.
Out of town people who attended the funeral were from Alden, Austin, Bricelyn, Rochester, Brush Creek, Albert Lea, St. Paul and Charles City, IA
