On June 13, 1947 at the age of 17, she married Herman A. Boog and began a marriage and farming partnership with him that spanned over 50 years until his death on Nov. 15, 2001.

"Miss Nellie" was known for her good cooking, sense of humor, frankness and the tenacity to handle any situation that might arise on a farm. She enjoyed family gatherings and a lifetime of old friends, having spent her entire life in the Vienna area. She was happy with life on Steam Mill Farm but in recent years her health declined.

In her younger years Nellie was very active in the community. She was a 4-H Club leader and member of the Board of Directors for Camp Thendara. Her and her late husband worked on fund raisers for North Dorchester High School.

Mrs. Boog was also an active member of Vienna United Methodist Church and taught Sunday School for many years. She also worked for the Dorchester County Board of Education for a few years.
