Alvina Amelia Wagner, daughter of Philip and Dorthea (Guenther) Knoll, was born Sept 12, 1898 in Katharinenstadt, Russia, and departed this life Nov. 22, 1984 at Parkside Manor, Russell at the age of 86 years, 2 months, and 10 days.
She was baptized in early infancy in the Lutheran faith and confirmed March 28, 1915. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church. She came to America in 1904 with her family and settled in Hays. In 1907, they family moved to Russell where she attended school in Russell and assisted her mother in the restaurant business for 15 years.
She married John Wagner June 2, 1929. After their wedding, she and her husband established their home on a farm where they remained until their retirement in 1964, when they moved to Russell and made their home at 1335 Front Street.
Mr. Wagner preceded her in death Sept. 2, 1973. She is survived by a nephew, Thomas Zercher, Dallas, TX; and a niece, Dora Ann Copeland, Amarillo, TX; and a number of other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers, one sister, one half-brother and one half-sister..
Memorial service Nov. 26, 1984 at St. John Lutheran Church with Rev. James Lohmeyer officiating. Burial in St. John Cemetery. Clines Funeral Home in charge.
