Adelia Laura Gerlach, 100, of Mahnomen, Minn., died Tuesday, May 30, 1995 at the Mahnomen Nursing Center.
She was born May 21, 1895 to the late Jacob and Rose Schorer Werner.
Adelia was united in marriage to William John Gerlach on May 21, 1923 in Waukegan, III. They lived on a farm in Rhine Township near Elkhart Lake, for four years.
In 1927, they moved to a farm in Sheboygan Falls Township near Johnsonville. Adelia lived there until 1952, when they moved into Sheboygan Falls. William died in 1967 and she moved to Mahnomen, Minn.
In February 1981 to live with her step-son and his wife, William Ben and Gelena Gerlach. Adelia entered the Mahnomen Nursing Center in June of 1985. She celebrated her 100th birthday on Sunday, May 21, in the nursing home Just ten days before her death.
Survivors include one son, Ervin (Patricia) Gerlach, Anchorage, Alaska; one step-daughter Catherine (Peter Sr.) Klein, Adell; one step-daughter-in-law, Gelena Gerlach, Mahnomen; two grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, 37 step-grandchildren, many step-great-grandchildren, and many step great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband on October 21, 1967, one step son, William Ben Gerlach, eight brothers, three sisters and one step-grandson.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m., Friday, in the Mahnomen Nursing Center and on Monday, June 5, 1995 at 10:30 a.m., at Saron United Church of Christ in rural Sheboygan Falls. Visitation will be one hour before services in each respective facility. Interment will be In the Saron United Church of Christ Cemetery. The Rev. Jennifer Dawson, co-pastor, will officiate at the services at Saron UCC. Pianist In Mahnomen will be Sybil Hallstrom with Marvin Slette as soloist. Organist in Sheboygan Falls will be Jeannie Johanning with the Saron UCC Choir providing the special music. The choir will be accompanied by Bonnie Hanke.
