Funeral services for Elaine A. Burkhardt, 87, of Jeffersonville, will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, March 19, 2012, at St. Augustine Catholic Church, with burial in Queen of Heaven Cemetery. She died Friday, March 16, 2012, at Clark Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Delphi, a retired bookkeeper from Lincoln Income Life Insurance Company, a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus Women's Auxiliary and she loved the outdoors, especially camping and fishing.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Charles "Pete" Burkhardt, of Jeffersonville; four sons, Steve Burkhardt and his wife Cynthia, of Jeffersonville, Bob Burkhardt, of Middletown, Ind.; Mike Burkhardt and his wife Ellen, of Lanesville, and James Burkhardt, of North Vernon; a sister, Shirley Newhart, of Lafayette; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Waldo and Agnes Smith; and a daughter, Gail Anne Burkhardt.
