Roman Esser
Redfield--The funeral for Roman Esser, 75, of Redfield will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Bernard's Catholic Church, Redfield. The Rev. John Fischer will officiate.

Burial will be in the St. Bernard's Catholic Cemetery with Thelen Funeral Home in Redfield in charge of arrangements.

A rosary service will be at 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Visitaion will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

He died Wednesday, April 28, 1999, at his home.

Roman Esser was born Nov. 3, 1923, to Chris and Anna (Reuschenberg) Esser in Spink County. He attended school in Redfield.

On April 23,1946, he married Theresa Jandel in Zell. Together, they farmed in the Redfield area all of his life. He also worked at the Redfield Livestock Auction for 25 years.

He was a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Redfield.

He enjoyed playing the piano, playing cards and target practice.

Survivors include his wife Theresa of Redfield; one daughter Anna (Clel)Simbeck of Kansas City, Mo.; six sons, Chris (Peggy) Esser and Leo Esser, both of Fargo, N.D., Fran (Laura)Esser, James (Jean)Esser and Bill Esser,all of Redfield,and Mike (Mary) Esser of Frankfort; one sister, Henrietta Jungwirth of Redfield; 21 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.

Casketbearers will be his six sons.
