Mass of Christian burial for Precious Blood Sister M. Luciana Timmerman, whose teaching service in the archdiocese spanned 46 years, was celebrated at the Salem Heights Convent Chapel March 3.
She died Feb. 28 at Emma Hall of the Maria Joseph Living Care Center at the age of 76.
A native of Mercer County, Sister Timmerman entered the Society of the Precious Blood at Salem Heights, Dayton, in 1926. A teacher throughout her religious life, she taught in the archdiocese of Sts. Peter and Paul School, Norwood; Regina High School, Cincinnati; and in Wapakoneta, Celina, New Carlisle, and Fort Recovery. Teaching assignments also took her to Cleveland and Ottawa. She retired to Salem Heights in 1977.
Survivors include two sisters, Sister M. Emelita Timmerman, sacristan for the Precious Blood Community at Salem Heights; Matilda Brunswick, a resident of the Coldwater Nursing Home; a sister-in-law, Ida Timmerman of the Maria Joseph Living Care Center; and a brother-in-law, Theodore Hemmelgarn, Maria Stein.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Sister M. Clotilda Timmerman of the Society of the Precious Blood.
