Velyndon "Lindy" Paradee was born January 9, 1941 to Vincent Peter "Pete" Paradee and Helen Mulfry (Refsland)Paradee at home on the "North Place" Farm in South Sacred Heart Township, Minnesota. He went to both country and Renville Schools. He was united in marriage to Paula Otsea at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Renville, Minnesota on January 6, 1968. He worked as a Renville policeman, a Renville County Sheriff's deputy, at the Renville Coop Elevator, as an over-the-road trucker and a farmer and lastly at Jackpot Junction. Lindy enjoyed fishing, bonfires and camping, as well as spending time with his grandchildren. Lindy died Friday, January 2, 2004 at his home in rural Sacred Heart, Minnesota at the age of 62.
Lindy was survived by his wife, Paula Otsea Paradee of the home; six daughters: Tammy Turrubiates of Redwood Falls; Robin Lozano of Lake Lillian; Sarah Paradee of Granite Falls; Esther Bauer of Coon Rapids; Lisa Paradee of Mankato; and Rachel Paradee of the home. also, His three sons: Daniel of Lynd; Adam of Olivia and Martin of Granite Falls; his 11 grandchildren: Sergio Jr., Samantha, Vincent, Vinessa, Emmitt, Preston, Haley, Spencer, Brianna, Gabriell and Seth; his brother Monroe (Brenda) Paradee and his two sisters - Susan Paradee and Valerie (Randy) Sietsema. Lindy was preceded in death by his parents, his son-in-law Sergio Turrubiates and his sister Heidi Paradee Anderson.
Services were held at the Holy Redeember Catholic Church in Renville, Minnesota on Tuesday, January 6, 2004 at 10:30 am. The celebrant was Father Paul van de Crommert. Pallbearers were: Daniel Paradee, Adam Paradee, Martin Paradee, Mark Molenaar, Keith Otsea and Chris Bauer. Burial followed in Calvary Cemetery, Flora Township, Renville, Minnesota.
