Manuel M. Sanchez, Jr. died Friday, January 11, 2008 in Laredo. He was born on May 20, 1938 to Manuel Sanchez, Sr. and Ricarda (Martinez) Sanchez in Cotulla, Texas. He attended the Cotulla School System graduating from high school in 1955. He and his wife, Loretta, had been married for 49 years. He worked for the Texas Highway Department in Cotulla for several years before moving to Laredo. There he helped his father operate the successful "Cotulla Style Pit Barbeque Restaurant". When the business sold he moved back to Cotulla and lived on a ranch he purchased. He then built, owned and operated the "Meme's Style Barbeque Restaurant" in Cotulla. His father and brother Jorge Luis Sanchez preceded him in death. His mother, Ricarda, wife, Loretta, and son, Manuel Sanchez and 3 grandchildren survive him. Visitation was held Sunday, January 13, 2008 with a Rosary recited at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass was celebrated Monday, at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial followed in Cotulla East Cemetery with J.C. Farias, Raymond Sanchez, Jr. Raul Gonzalez, Luis Angel Garza, Santos Garcia, Lionel Rocha, Jesus Garza, Jr. and Luis Reynaldo Sobrevilla serving as pallbearers. Funeral arrangements under the direction of Peters Funeal Home, Cotulla.
