An automobile racer was injured fatally Saturday as two speeding cars locked wheels and careened against a concrete
wall during the opening day program of the Minnesota State Fair.

Charles was survived by his wife Margaret. He and his wife lived at 3330 - 41st Avenue S., Minneapolis. He was an aviation mechanic for the U.S. Naval Reserve.
